Different Names For Santa Claus

There are actually several different names for Santa Claus. Although "Santa" is the most popular in the United States, he is often refferred to as Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, St. Nicholas or St. Nick. There are also, of course, many other names for Santa in different countries, but they all refer to the same jolly old man.

Most European countries use Father Christmas and it is translated into numerous different languages. For example, it's Papa Noel in Spain, Pere Noel in France, and Babbo Natale in Italy.

When talking about different titles for Mr. Claus, his history should be taken into consideration as well. When you are making a one-of-a-kind Santa doll, you will want to give him a proper name or title. It's interesting to learn just how Santa originated in the first place and it lends light on how he got his many references, as well as inspiration for the type of doll you want to create. Even thought the traditonal dress of red suit trimmed in white fur is the most popular choice, it can be fun learning about the customary dress for St. Nick in other parts of the world.
